Matcha Brownie With White Chocolate
This Matcha Brownie Recipe will be your favorite new addition to your dessert catalog because of its delicious white chocolaty taste and the unique matcha powder flavor. This Japanese-style brownie has the perfect combination of a chewy, gooey, and fudgy consistency with the earthy green tea taste.

Sprinkling sliced almonds and extra white chocolate chips on the top gives a beautiful, elegant, and fancy look. Its pretty green color gives a fresh vibe from the moment you see these little beauties. Matcha lovers will definitely fall for this simple recipe, which I totally understand. I was never a huge Matcha consumer before, but this recipe is worth everything.
Why Matcha Powder?
Matcha contains the nutrients from the entire tea leaf, which results in a high of caffeine and antioxidants than typically found in green tea. These days, they are popular with matcha shots, lattes, teas, and even desserts, and they are super simple to make.

What exactly does matcha taste like?
A good quality matcha should taste grassy, creamy, and smooth. It has more of a seaweed flavor (also called "umami"). In teas, lattes, and desserts, obviously, you have to add any sweetener of your choice to taste better.

If you have never tasted matcha powder before, this Matcha Brownie Recipe is the best choice for you to do so. You can't go wrong with it. You'll definitely declare that you are in love with matcha. If matcha isn’t your thing, the old-fashioned brownie recipe in this post is a timeless classic that never disappoints. With its rich chocolate flavor, chewy center, and signature crackly top, it delivers everything people love about traditional homemade brownies.
Ingredients for Matcha Brownie Recipe
I used a special Matcha Powder which contains Collagen (which has very high-quality Japanese Matcha). This is what I had in my pantry. I add this to my latte, to my smoothies, or to my desserts.

- Unsalted Butter - I like to use unsalted butter, but you can also use salted butter; just make sure you don't add any extra salt to it. You can use whichever is in your refrigerator.
- White Chocolate - I like it with white chocolate. I think it's more unique and different. Some people use milk chocolate with it, but if you like white chocolate, I definitely recommend using white chocolate as the original recipe suggests.
- Matcha Powder - I used Collagen + Matcha (Japanese Matcha Powder), which I really love, and recommend. You can make it healthier with extra Collagen, which your skin will be thankful for. This will help to give the bright, beautiful green color.
- Light Brown Sugar - I like to use brown sugar because it gives a richer sweetness and a fudgy, chewy texture. But of course, if you don't have brown sugar in your pantry, you can add any sweetener of your choice. I recommend going with a healthier choice.
- Eggs - Eggs will help to create a nice texture and will make it easier for the batter to come together. Make sure they are at room temperature.
- Vanilla Extract - Highly recommend the Nielsen-Massey - Madagascar Pure Vanilla Extract, which is a really good quality one.
- All-Purpose Flour - measure your flour correctly with a kitchen scale.
- Baking Powder - Some recipe doesn't contain baking soda, which results in a really fudgy texture. I like my brownies a little taller and not extra fudgy.
- Pinch of Salt - Don't add the salt if you use salted butter

What is the Necessary Equipment?
For the Matcha Brownie Recipe, you need a 9 x 9 Baking Pan. I used a 9 x 13 Baking Pan for these process photos because I wanted to bake a larger amount of matcha brownies. I was actually taking them to a potluck afterward. (I adjusted the amount of ingredients for the bigger pan)
You also need parchment paper to line your pan.
For melting the chocolate and the butter, you need a microwave. I think that's the easiest way to do it, but you can do it in a small pan over the stovetop. You also need a hand mixer to combine the ingredients perfectly. It's so much faster and easier to do it this way. But a whisk can work too!
How To Make Matcha Brownie Powder
- Preheat oven to 350℉
- Place the unsalted butter and half a cup of the white chocolate chips in a heatproof mixing bowl, and heat in the microwave (approx. 1 minute) until the chocolate melts.
- Add matcha powder, light brown sugar, and vanilla extract into the melted chocolate and stir with the hand mixer until it is well combined.
- Add eggs, then continue combining the same way. Now you should have a smooth and glossy batter.
- Add all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt to the matcha mixture and start combining again with the hand mixer.
- Put parchment paper in the baking tray, then pour the batter on top of it and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the center is set.
- Cool it down completely before serving.
