There is nothing better than the famous Popeyes Apple Pie, right? Wait! Hold on! What about making this treat at home, so you don’t even have to get in your car and waste gasoline? Yep, the same recipe, the same taste. It’s even better!
Popeyes uniquely are frying their pies while other fast food restaurants like Mcdonald’s are baking their desserts. We love fried foods and also desserts, of course, in moderation.
I love baked apple pies, and honestly, I make more baked ones than fried ones because of health reasons, but sometimes I love to make fried ones. Who doesn’t love fried food and dessert? I do!!! And my family does too!
Popeyes also adds cinnamon sugar all around the pie, and it makes it more delicious. More unique. That’s why I decided to make a copycat popeyes apple pie recipe that you can make at home whenever you have cravings for it.
In my opinion, these are the best deep-fried apple pies from a fast-food franchise restaurant. The exterior is crunchy, crispy, and beautifully golden brown. The filling is made with Gala apples that still have a wonderful bite and shape even after frying. The interior is juicy, not too sweet, with a good amount of delicious apples.

How to Make Popeyes Apple Pie
- Make the apple filling first because it has to cool down before you fill the pies. Pill the apples, cut them into little cubes, and add all the ingredients to a skillet or medium size pan.
- Four apples, two tablespoons of butter, half a cup of sugar, one teaspoon of pumpkin spice, and one teaspoon of cornstarch.
- Mix them and let the apple cook in its juice for 5 minutes or until it gets the perfect consistency for your taste. I like them a little crunchy, so I don’t let them cook well.
- Take the ready-to-use homemade Puff Pastry dough, and flour your work surface to roll it out. Roll the dough into a rectangle. Using a knife cut the dough into rectangles 2½ inches wide x 4 inches in height. You should be able to cut between 22-24 rectangles.
- Fill every other center with 1 heaping teaspoon of apple filling, leaving about a ¼-inch border from the filling to the edge of the dough.
- Cover each filled pastry with the dough rectangle you left empty and crimp the edges together with a fork. Repeat the process.
- Fry each of the apple pies for approximately 2 minutes on each side or until is golden brown and crispy.
- When is done and still hot, add the cinnamon sugar around the apple pie with a little teaspoon and let it cool down
- Serve it immediately or later. It is delicious when it’s warm and also cold.
How to Store the Fried Popeyes Apple Pie
These pies are best eaten warm and freshly prepared! But if you fried them ahead you can add them to the fridge with a lid or cover them tightly with plastic wrap. It will last up to 4 days in the refrigerator.
When you make them ahead, you can put them in the freezer for up to two months. When you are ready to use them take them out from the freezer, a day earlier or at least overnight, and fry them the next day.

I love these portable single-serve pies. They were a lot easier to make than I thought they would be and they tasted so good.

I never thought to freeze these apple pies but your tip that they last two months was the incentive I needed! They come out just as good as freshly made once you warm them up.

I found these apple pies very tasty and fast to make. With just a few ingredients that I had at home, I made a delicious dessert that kids fall in love with immediately.

Being a vegetarian, this is the only item on Popeye’s menu that I can eat. Now, I no longer have to go there to get my fix. Your recipe was very easy to follow along and make at home. My first batch was devoured within minutes!
