This Chocolate Protein Mug Cake is a smoothly delicious 1-minute dessert, which includes only 5 ingredients with two optional ones. This protein-packed chocolate mug cake could be perfect for a nutritious breakfast, or a post-workout dessert.
This mug cake is a healthy, protein-packed, delicious chocolaty dessert, which is so easy to make and ready just in one minute. If you are going for a healthy protein dessert, this will be your ultimate obsession. I guarantee.
The preparation and microwaving time in total will take up to 7 minutes. It has no egg, and it’s also so easy to make it dairy-free. Milk can be any of your choices, (even including all dairy-free) and the protein powder can be easily switched to vegan ones.
To be honest, I still learn when it comes to sweeteners in breakfast or any healthy dessert choices. Trying to be healthier, changed everything in my mind. Protein powder in the mug cake also gives an opportunity to eat a full nutrient treat. What I really want to say is, that you can change your ingredients to your taste or any kind of choice… the only thing you have to look at for the perfect mug cake is the exactly measured ingredients, or your mug cake may not come out how you’re expecting.
My other favorite protein-packed mug cake is this Banana Protein Mug Cake. I love, how the banana gives the total sweetness of this mug cake, and I don’t have to add extra sweeteners. Apple Saucy Protein Mug Cake is really focusing on the health version.
If you look for more like a super chocolaty dessert, Hot Chocolate Mug Cake is the one to try. It has a good amount of melted dark chocolate which makes it addictive.

How to make Protein Mug Cake
- In a microwave-safe mug, place your dry ingredients and whisk them together until well blended.
- Add your milk ( with the chocolate chip if desired) into the mug and stir them well, to obtain a smooth mixture. Sprinkle chocolate chip if you want on the top.
- Place it in a center of the microwave, and microwave for 60 to 90 seconds or until the mug cake rises to the top of the mug. Make sure after 30 seconds you check on your mug cake to not over microwave it.
- Wait 30 to 1 minute before serving because it might be hot.
For this recipe, you need only a mug as equipment. Which is a good thing. It will serve for one serving, but if you want to make it for more people, make sure you double or triple the ingredients.
You really have to make sure you paying attention when you microwaving it. If you microwave it for too long it’ll end up too dry, and if you don’t microwave it long enough, well, it won’t be cooked. Make sure, that after the first 30 seconds, you check on your mug cake to not over-microwave it. It’s really important!
But, if it’s a bit undercooked, it’s more acceptable, than having an overcooked mug cake. Why? Because it has no egg in it, it’s totally safe to eat… and the flour got cooked enough to have an edible mug cake. But an overcooked mug cake can be rubbery, dry and just not appealing at all.
But let’s just try to make it perfect as can be. Right?
