The Masters’ Egg Salad Tea Sandwiches are a must to try if you are at The Masters Tournament. But thankfully, I have the iconic Masters egg salad recipe you can make at home with ease. So quick, easy, and tastes just like the original one.
When you buy this egg salad sandwich at the Masters, you get a regular normal sliced sandwich. I made some fun with it, and created tea sandwiches…why not? They look so adorable and they are just perfect for tea time.
It’s a really easy process for making these finger sandwiches, but you still get step-by-step instructions just to make sure it comes out how it has to. You just really need 10 minutes from your time, to create these elegant tea sandwiches.
This Masters egg salad recipe is my best so far, and it’s always been a family favorite. It was just a surprise that the Masters’ Egg Salad tasted almost identical to the egg salad I make all the time at home. Since I make this for my kids, usually I make tea sandwiches, since it’s easier for them to eat, and also because they are just really elegant and cute. Also decorated with a thin cucumber slice, and held together with a cocktail fork.
I like to play with the shapes of these tea sandwiches. When I take out my shape cookie cutters I just choose one different every time. Circle, heart, square, triangle, or even flower. My kids are loving it. Also, you can use it on lettuce wraps.

Tips and Tricks
1. How do you cut a tea sandwich perfectly?
If you choose to cut the tea sandwiches with a knife, make sure it is sharp. Cut them after assembling the sandwiches. Cut each sandwich into thirds, quarters, or in half diagonally.
When you cut it with a knife, it’s easier after assembling the sandwich. When you do it with small decorative cutters (like the one I use), the bread has to be delicate so the filling won’t come out on the sides.
I used a little thicker and harder-to-cut bread, and that’s why I cut them before assembling them, so if you use soft bread with the knife is also easier to work with. Right now, we are talking about the “egg salad tea sandwiches”. Other tea sandwich recipes might have other rules.
2. What is the best bread to use for tea sandwiches?
They usually come with soft white bread. It depends on the filling too. In the egg salad case, it comes mostly with soft bread.
But of course, at the end of the day, we are talking about a sandwich that you can make with any sliced bread you have at home.
3. How to make tea sandwiches the night before?
The good news is, that egg salad CAN be made the night before (not every sandwich can be made a day before). Depends on the filling.
For example: it’s not a good idea for the Cucumber Tea Sandwich to make the night before. The cucumber will lose its crunchiness and then it just doesn’t taste good.
Make sure that you put them in an airtight container and place them in the refrigerator. Before serving them let the airtight container sit outside on the countertop for room temperature. It needs to be served at room temperature.
4. How many sandwiches per person for an afternoon tea?
Approximately, 4 sandwiches per person.
