The Spicy Red Gold Salsa has a bright and fresh flavor which is a perfect addition to your Mexican food. It is my favorite salsa for enhancing the flavor without overwhelming it. Jalapenos, green chili pepper, and yellow chili pepper mixture make this sauce a hit which will be your new spicy obsession.
This red salsa pairs great with your favorite bag of tortilla chips, delicious tacos, burritos, and quesadillas. It goes perfectly also with fajitas, enchiladas, or even as a salad dressing is a great addition.
This homemade Spicy Red Gold Salsa doesn’t contain any preservatives, no artificial flavors or colors, which means is much better than the store-bought one. It’s gluten-free and includes just the fresh ingredients that make it so fantastic and unique.
Jack in the Box Taco Recipe is one of the amazing recipes that can be paired with our red salsa which will give a nice fresh and bright flavor. Wet Burritos are another deliciousness that you can make. For more with-what-to-serve ideas check out this recipe: Easy Chicken Enchiladas.
This recipe is spicy, so make sure you are aware of that when you make Mexican food and decide to pair it with it. You can customize the spiciness by adding more or less or leaving it out completely.

Ingredients for Red Gold Salsa
I like to make my salsa a little bit chunky and not just simply watery and all blended together. That’s why I like to use ingredients that are filling the sauce.
The only ingredients that I blend together are the hot peppers ( jalapeños, green chili pepper, and yellow chili peppers). That’s because I don’t like to bite in a chunk of chilis that will give you a hard time feeling the rest of the ingredients.
- diced tomatoes – for alternatives use crushed tomatoes or fresh tomatoes. The best tomatoes they recommend for sauces are Roma Tomatoes.
- tomato paste – will thicken your salsa
- Jalapeño – gives the heat. If you know what I mean.
- green chilis – same as above
- yellow chilis – same as above
- cilantro – provide a classic flavor of a Mexican salsa
- garlic powder – you can use fresh garlic but make sure to blend it with the hot peppers together.
- white onion – an important ingredient
- salt to taste – just makes everything tastier and helps ingredients enhance the flavor without overpowering it.
- the water – Optional. Don’t add water just if it’s too thick and you want to adjust a lighter consistency. Add little by little. 2 spoons at one time.
NOTE: How I mentioned before, the spiciness is customizable. I recommend not adding the seeds and the white sponge inside your sauce, only if you want an extremely spicy chili. We all know the white spongy layer you find inside and the seeds are the hottest part of any spicy chili pepper.
How to Make Red Gold Salsa
- Blend jalapeño pepper, green, and yellow chilis pepper in a blender. (Add garlic if you use fresh ones)
- Dice the onions and cilantro in small pieces and not big chunks. At least that’s my preference.
- Add the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, pepper paste, and salt in a saucepan.
- Heat over 200℉ until starts to boil. Cook for 5 minutes more on low until well blended, then remove from heat.
- Add more water if you need to adjust for the perfect consistency. This step is OPTIONAL.
- Pour the sauce into a bowl and combine diced onions and fresh diced cilantro together with the sauce.
- Leave it for 15 – 20 minutes to sit before serving, it will taste better.
- Serve hot or cold.
What is the best way to store fresh salsa?
Pour it into an airtight container and place it in the refrigerator to keep your salsa fresh as long as possible. Leave it for up to 1 week in the refrigerator. You can freeze it also up to 1 year.
