This Chili Lime Mexican Salmon Recipe is simple to make yet looks luxurious. Poured with seasoned chili-lime sauce will make it deliciously fresh and tender. These salmon steaks will be your best Mexican taste-like experience.
When it comes to food, is all about the experience for me. Every time I cook or try to recreate a recipe from different cuisine or a copycat recipe, I’ll go after the experience I had with that food before.
…and because of that, weight maintenance is a difficult topic for me. It’s not that easy when you love food that much. Haha
This recipe is one of the most delicious salmon recipes I had before, and I am not even wondering why. Mexican food is just one of the tastiest and easiest to make. The freshly squeezed lime, freshly chopped cilantro, and a little hotness (chili flakes) are just the perfect demonstration of Mexican cuisine.
I use salmon steaks today, which look more fancy and luxurious on the plate. Even with a simple salad looks just phenomenal… and what is the best thing about it? It is ready just in 20 minutes.
Super delicious, moist, and beautifully tender salmon can be served with tacos, salads, rice, and veggies. Check out the Simple Tossed Green Salad or Mexican Avocado Salad recipe which can be served with our Chili Lime Mexican Salmon Recipe.

Ingredients You’ll Need for Chili Lime Mexican Salmon Recipe
These ingredients are all go-to in our kitchens, and if it’s mixed with the right ones you’ll get the Mexican authentic taste right away.
- Salmon Steaks – Our King ingredient. They look fancy as a steak, but of course, this recipe can be made also with salmon fillets.
- Lime Juice – this ingredient is pretty much authentic for Mexican cuisine, and for this reason, it’s necessary to add it. As an alternative, Lemon Juice is also good to use.
- The Secret Seasoning: (the lime juice from above), freshly chopped cilantro, olive oil, cloves of garlic, onion powder, chili flakes, ground cumin, and salt.
If you have Mexican Tajin Seasoning, you can use that, instead of the Secret Seasoning. The Tajin’s Chili Lime ingredients are pretty much the same ingredients as the Secret Seasoning.
How to Make Chili-Lime Mexican Salmon Recipe
For this recipe, you just need a Mixing Bowl and a Baking Sheet where you bake the beautiful salmon steaks.
- Heat the oven to 400℉.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk ½ cup lime juice, olive oil, water, cilantro, garlic, onion powder, chili flakes, ground cumin, and salt.
- Arrange the salmon in a center of the baking sheet and then pour the mixture on top of the salmon. You can marinate the salmon for 30 minutes if you wish or just pour it into the salmon.
- Bake it for 10 to 15 minutes until it has a beautiful golden color.
- Best served immediately with salad, and/or rice side dish.
What part of the salmon is salmon steak?
The salmon steaks include the bones and it’s cut crosswise. Salmon Fillets are long pieces that their cut is separated from the main bone.
Should salmon be marinated overnight?
Don’t do it. If the salmon is in the marinade for more than 1 hour, it will start to get mushy and that’s not really what we want to get. You should marinate the salmon for 30 minutes, and definitely, you should not exceed 1 hour.
How to make salmon without drying it out?
The only secret is to bake the salmon covered with aluminum foil. This is the only way to keep the moisture inside. Also is important to bake it at a low temperature, with that said don’t exceed 385F for a better texture and moisture.
