Ingredients

  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 lb chicken breast
  • 2 tbsp butter

Marinade

  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic

Toppings

  • 1 medium yellow onion sliced
  • 8 oz mushroom sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 slices Monterey Jack Cheese

Instructions

  • Slice the chicken breast in half.
    1 lb chicken breast
  • Season the chicken breasts on both sides with salt, pepper, onion powder, and smoked paprika.
½ tsp salt, ½ tsp black pepper, 1 tbsp onion powder, 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • Make sure it's seasoned very well.
  • In a mixing bowl, mix the soy sauce, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, olive oil, and minced garlic. Combine them and make the marinade.
1 cup soy sauce, 1 tbsp lemon juice, 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, 1 tbsp olive oil, 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • Pour the marinade over the chicken and let it marinate in the refrigerator for an hour or until overnight.
  • Heat the skillet over medium heat and add 2 tablespoons of butter.
    2 tbsp butter
  • Add the sliced onions to the butter.
    1 medium yellow onion
  • Add the sliced mushrooms.
    8 oz mushroom
  • Season them with salt, and black pepper, for your taste. Stir the mixture together and cover, reducing the heat. Once cooked, take it off the heat. Pour it out on a small plate, leaving its liquid behind.
1 tsp salt, 1 tsp black pepper
  • In the same pan, add the remaining two tablespoons of butter.
    2 tbsp butter
  • Cook the marinated chicken in the same pan ( as the sauteed onion and mushroom) until it turns golden brown and well cooked.
  • Top the cooked chicken with the sautéed mushrooms and onions.
  • Add a slice of Jack cheese on top of the mushroom-onion sauteed.
    2 slices Monterey Jack Cheese
  • Cover the smothered chicken with a lid until the cheese melts.
  • Serve it hot!
